The Future of Dancing Robots Is Here, And It's Mind Blowing!

About Boston Dynamics. As a Massachusetts Institute of Technology spin-off, Boston Dynamics is an American engineering and robotics design firm that was established in 1992. Boston Dynamics, with its headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts, has been a part of the Hyundai Motor Group since December 2020, however the acquisition wasn't finalized until June 2021.
Marc Raibert established the business after separating it from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992.
The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) hired the company early in its history to work with the American Systems Corporation on a project to replace naval training videos for aircraft launch operations with interactive 3D computer simulations featuring characters created with the software for realistic human simulation known as DI-Guy. The company eventually began manufacturing actual robots.
As of today, Boston Dynamics focuses on creating robots with advanced mobility, dexterity and intelligence. The company is best known for the development of dynamic highly-mobile robots. Since 2019, their robot Spot has been made commercially available, making it the first commercially available robot from Boston Dynamics, with the company stating its intent to commercialize other robots as well, including Handle.
In December 2020 Hyundai Motor Group acquired an 80% stake in the company from SoftBank for approximately $880 million dollars.[10] SoftBank Group retains about 20% through an affiliate.
